Uganda Parliament has commended the aggressive works of State House Anti Corruption Unit in matters relating to combating Corruption albeit on small funding.

It has called for government to consider facilitating the unit through creating a budget for the unit because it has demonstrated better robust performance despite it's being underfunded .

Speaking on the floor of parliament, the MP for Jonam county in PakwachPresident Museveni , Hon Alenyo Marshall Godfrey acknowledged the performances of the SH_ACU country wide saying it should be better supported.

The legislator was speaking following a presentation by local government minister, Hon Balaam Barugahara where he reported about bitter corruption findings during his country wide tours with his deputy Hon Justine Nameere.
The minister said corruption at local government is so alarming and that the public is grateful.

Since it's creation on 10th December 2018, SHACU has actively worked together with sister institutions like police, IGG, DPP to combat corruption despite it's not having a direct budget and a big man power. Such success is attributed to its leadership led by Brig.Gen Henry Isoke and his predecessor Col Edith Nakalema.

Meanwhile presidential Yoweri Museveni has thrown his weight behind the anti-corruption field tours led by ministers Balaam and Nameere, saying the public gatherings are exposing widespread graft that has been shielded by officials and sections of the elite.

In a statement posted on his social media handle, Mr Museveni said concerns that Balaam and his deputy Nameere were merely “bumping into issues blindly” during their inspections were unlikely to be justified, arguing that the frequency and scale of corruption complaints made the field operations necessary.

He said he had personally encountered numerous complaints about corruption during the 2026 election campaigns, forcing him at times to interrupt his campaign activities to address grievances from citizens, including allegations involving the Parish Development Model (PDM).
