The revelations of Dr Kizza Besigye's health status as it allegedly stands now by one of his close confidant, and Former Deputy Kampala Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura has left many Ugandans in shock.
Nyanjura who says she visited Dr Besigye recently from his hospital bed in Mulago has said the four time presidential runner is still a health risk.
Dr Besigye has been very sick ever since he collapsed while in court three months ago and very few people have had a chance to visit him.
But Nyanjura who visited him recently told her following on her X page( formerly twitter) that what she found out when she visited Dr Besigye in hospital broke her heart.
"It broke my heart to see that he is now being taught how to walk and talk again. A speech therapist was using a word chart with simple words like "dog" and "boy," which KB is supposed to try his hardest to pronounce, though he hasn’t succeeded yet" wrote Nyanjura.
She added, "KB uses an alphabetical letter chart where he taps out letters for you to write down and piece together what he is saying. Sensing that I was shocked about his current state, he pointed that “it could have been worse.”
She said that because of being in this situation, he has lately learnt sign language which he sometimes use when he gets tired of pointing at alphabetic letters.
"He hears very well, but he not able to talk yet.
He doesn’t remember exactly what happened at court, he remembers waking up days later while in the ICU at Mulago " narrated Nyanjura.
She also added that Dr Besigye cannot hold a bottle of water on his own. His hands aren’t firm, they are shaky and lack strength.
Nyanjura asked Ugandans to keep Dr Besigye in their prayers as he undergoes medication in Mulago where one of his neighbors in the same facility is his former lawyer and ex Kampala Lord Mayor Ssaalongo Erias Lukwago although they have never met.
