UBL Invites Ugandans to “Tunyuke” as World Beer Day Celebrations Kick Off

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) is inviting Ugandans to take a moment to relax, connect and celebrate this World Beer Day through its “Tunyuke, Lunaku lwa Beer” campaign.

To mark the occasion, consumers can enjoy a special World Beer Day offer at participating bars and outlets across the country. Customers who purchase five selected UBL beers from the company’s portfolio — including Bell Lager, Guinness, Tusker, White Cap and Pilsner — will receive the fifth beer free under the “buy five, pay for four” promotion.

Adding to the excitement, mystery shoppers will visit selected outlets nationwide to surprise consumers enjoying UBL brands with exclusive gifts and rewards.
After a busy week of meeting deadlines and keeping the country moving, World Beer Day offers Ugandans an opportunity to pause, unwind and celebrate shared connections. Beer has for decades played an important role in bringing people together, transforming ordinary meet-ups into memorable moments.

At the centre of this year’s celebration is the theme “Tunyuke, Lunaku lwa Beer” — a phrase inspired by the Luganda expression “tunyuke,” which captures the familiar end-of-day moment when work is done, tools are put down and it is time to relax.

UBL is using the campaign to celebrate Ugandans’ hard work and encourage responsible enjoyment, recognising that in Uganda, the real celebration often begins after the workday ends.

“World Beer Day allows us to recognise our consumers and the hospitality ecosystem that brings people together,” said Elizabeth Mutamuliza, Marketing Manager Beer at UBL. “Beyond giving Ugandans a reason to pause and catch up, this celebration supports our local retail partners and kafundas by driving excitement and foot traffic back into neighbourhood businesses after a productive week.”

Whether visiting a local bar, meeting colleagues after work or stopping by a neighbourhood shop, UBL is encouraging Ugandans to join the celebration responsibly.

“Step away from the desk, the boda, the counter or the garden, and gather at your nearest outlet to toast the day responsibly,” the company said.

As UBL celebrates 80 years of brewing excellence, this year’s World Beer Day celebration serves as a tribute to eight decades of creating moments of connection and bringing Ugandans together.
