The Anti-Corruption Court has convicted and sentenced Kavuuma Ibrahim to three and a half years in prison for his role in a property fraud scheme in which he and his accomplices allegedly obtained USD 205,556 (approximately UGX 740 million) from a victim.
The court also ordered Kavuuma to refund UGX 70 million to the victim and forfeited UGX 8,004,700, USD 2,000 and a motor vehicle, which were recovered from him during his arrest.
The recovered assets are to be used towards compensating the victim.
The case arose from an incident on July 15, 2025, when Kavuuma, together with other suspects who are still at large, used falsified documents, including a certificate of title, sale agreements and transfer forms, to deceive the victim into believing that he was the legitimate owner of the property.
Through the fraudulent scheme, Kavuuma and his accomplices obtained USD 205,556, equivalent to approximately UGX 740 million, from the victim.
Kavuuma was subsequently arrested by SH _ACU and charged with Forgery, Uttering False Documents, Obtaining Money by False Pretence, and Money Laundering.
