The Head of SH_ACU, Brig Gen Henry Isoke, has called for greater attention to corruption as a threat to national security and development.
Brig Gen Isoke made the remarks yesterday while addressing officers attending the Basic Crime Intelligence Course at the Police Training School, Kabalye, Masindi, where he delivered a presentation on “The Role of SH-ACU in the Promotion of National Security and Development.”
He warned that corruption weakens public institutions, undermines service delivery and diverts resources meant for national development, making the fight against corruption a shared responsibility.
Brig Gen Isoke called upon the officers to heed H.E. the President’s call for every citizen to play their part in fighting corruption. "You have to fight corruption wherever you are,” he emphasized.
He urged the officers to uphold integrity in the execution of their duties.
Brig Isoke also reinforced the message of the IGP Abas Byakagaba, who has urged Police officers to reject corruption, prioritise service delivery and live within their means in order to protect their careers.
The Head of SH-ACU briefed the trainees on the progress of the “Expose the Corrupt National Campaign,” championed by the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, in response to H.E. the President’s directive: “No More Sleep, No More Corruption and No Tolerance for Non-performers.”
The campaign brings SH-ACU together with ISO, ODPP, the Ministry of Works and Transport, Uganda Police Force and CID, among other institutions. Through the campaign, several public officers have so far been apprehended and interdicted to enable ongoing investigations.
Brig Gen Isoke called for continued collaboration among institutions in the fight against corruption, noting that safeguarding public resources is essential to Uganda’s development and national security.
He emphasised to the intelligence officers that integrity, loyalty and hard work will be key tenets in shaping their careers in intelligence and enabling them to effectively serve the nation.
Brig Gen Isoke also appreciated the efforts of the Director Crime Intelligence, AIGP Maj Gen Christopher Damulira, in transforming Crime Intelligence within the Uganda Police Force, particularly through increased engagement with communities and the youth, including those in ghettos.
He noted that such efforts contribute to maintaining peace, strengthening security and rapid development.
At the Police Training School, Brig Gen Isoke was received by the Deputy Commandant, SSP Joel Tubanone, and the School Administrator, SSP Mworrozi Byaruhanga.
