The State House Anti Corruption Unit in collaboration with Uganda police and the DPP Thursday arraigned Businessman Nuwagaba Vincent before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of Impersonating a Public Official, Corruption, and Demanding Money by Menace.

He denied all the charges and was remanded till the 29th September, 2026.

Prosecution alleges that in August 2026, at various places in Mpigi and Kampala, Nuwagaba solicited UGX 500 million from a director of Double Q Company Ltd, a Chinese-owned company involved in vehicle assembly.

Nuwagaba allegedly impersonated an official from the Ministry of Water and Environment and falsely claimed that the company was degrading a wetland at Nakirebe in Mpigi District.

According to investigations, Nuwagaba demanded the money, claiming that he would help the company’s directors prevent or frustrate any action by the relevant authorities to stop their activities at the site.

It is further alleged that Nuwagaba worked with officials said to be from Ministry of Water and Environment and Mpigi Magistrate’s Court, to put pressure on the victims to pay the money.

Investigations are still ongoing to apprehend all those involved.
