There is panic in the security circles of officers and men who worked closely with the detained two retired UPDF Generals who got arrested on the orders of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the country's CDF.
The detained two ,previously headed military intelligence and allegations indicate that their fate is related to the on going false intelligence and treachery investigations.
Retired Maj Gen Abel Kandiho and retired Brig Gen Charles Bakahumura
both commanded the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), now the Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS).
Security sources told Media that those who worked closely with them are almost sweeting plasma not knowing if they are the next in line of arrests.
" Those of them who closely worked with them aren't at ease any more. We hear the investigations are widening as allegations here and there emerge" said a source.
The two were picked up on Tuesday morning, less than three weeks after they officially left active service being part of the 19 generals who were retired on August 20, 2026.
Kandiho was appointed CMI chief in January 2017 while serving as a Colonel, promoted to Brigadier in November 2017 in the same docket and later to Major General.
Bakahumura headed CMI from 2012 to 2017 before being appointed Chief of Logistics and Engineering, a position he held for seven years as its longest-serving chief.
The arrests are allegedly linked to an inquiry reportedly sanctioned by Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Their detention follows the arrest of other senior intelligence officers over alleged production of false intelligence reports, including former DIS Chief Maj Gen James Birungi, Director of Counter-Terrorism Col Peter Ahimbisibwe, and Director of Special Operations Lt Col Ephraim Byaruhanga.
Birungi and Byaruhanga have since been charged with treachery before the Court Martial and remanded to Makindye Military Police Barracks.
Birungi was arrested after appearing before a board chaired by Deputy CDF Lt Gen Samuel Okiding, instituted by Gen Kainerugaba.
